The Warrior Alliance Awarded Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant

Savannah Business Journal Staff Report

February 3, 2026 – The Warrior Alliance (TWA) announced it has been awarded the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant (SSG Fox SPGP), a nationally recognized program supporting community-based efforts to prevent veteran suicide.

This funding strengthens The Warrior Alliance’s capacity to identify veterans at risk and connect them to timely, life-saving resources. Through the SSG Fox SPGP grant, TWA will expand outreach efforts across Atlanta, Augusta, and Savannah, with a focus on veterans and families facing higher risk factors or limited access to care.

In alignment with VA’s National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide (2018), this grant program assists in implementing a public health approach that blends community-based prevention with evidence-based clinical strategies. Congress has authorized $174 million to be appropriated to carry out the three-year grant program.

“There are numerous factors that must be addressed to help at-risk veterans improve their well-being and quality of life”, states Scott Johnson President and CEO.  “The Warrior Alliance is committed to meeting veterans in communities where they live to build much needed awareness and get them connected to free resources before they experience crisis situations.”

Targeted outreach initiatives will focus on engaging veterans who may not be currently connected to the VA or other support systems. TWA will leverage its established Community Partner Network to provide direct referrals to trusted providers offering mental health care, housing support, legal assistance, employment services, and additional resources.
