Operation Double Eagle
Jobless rates amongst veterans transitioning out of the military have steadily improved over the past several years. The Department of Labor reports that less than 4% of veterans are unemployed, however, the statistics do not reflect the reality of barriers to employment and limited career options for many veterans.
Nearly a third of 12 million veterans report having a disability, and only 32% of those with service connected disabilities are employed. These numbers indicate that a significant gap exists in linking this veteran population’s competencies and capabilities (what they can do) to opportunities that lead to meaningful employment.
To address the problem head-on, TWA is uniting a specific segment of its community partner network to drive skills development and employment collaboration for veterans with barriers to employment. The initiative, called Operation Double Eagle, offers hope to a deserving population of military heroes facing hardship and unemployment at home. The goal of Operation Double Eagle is to align with a veteran’s specific goals and needs and re-tool the skills they mastered during military service to secure a successful career.
